GNGHS has recently held two fairs related to careers and clubs. On Tuesday, January 9th, most sophomores from GNGHS were bussed up to Central Maine Community College in Auburn for a Career Day. The sophomores that did not turn in their permission slips had a normal day as planned, and a study hall if their teacher was away on the trip. Students had been asked to select workshops they would like to attend, and two were chosen for them from their most-wanted choices. The buses left GNGHS at 11:00 and returned at 1:55. The career day was fun! Some choices included photography, education, architecture, welding, and Computer Aided Design! There were other high schools attending as well, these would be Buckfield, Edward Little, Leavitt, Poland, Dirigo, Telstar, Mountain Valley, Oak Hill, and Spruce Mountain. The instructors of the courses were very qualified in their job, and were very helpful towards the inquisitive sophomores.

On Wednesday, January 10th, GNGHS ran a modified schedule in order to fit a special 80 minute advisory block into the schedule. The four grades rotated through meetings with the administrators and the co-curricular fair. The fair was created to try and create awareness for the clubs offered at this wonderful high school. Many clubs were represented, including Student Council, Yearbook, Band, Patriot Voice Newspaper, and more! The fair lasted about 20 minutes and was fun for most. A lot of clubs received new members because of this activity, so all in all, it was a great success.

Both fairs were necessary and informative to the students and staff of GNGHS. They each gave students information that might interest them. The career day offered sophomores information on their future job choices, and the co-curricular fair offered all students a chance to participate in some clubs at their school to get more involved.
